At age 69, I wanted a refreshed look & a natural appearance, nothing extreme. When I retired about a year ago, my aged faced seemed to reflect the painful memories and depression of the last ten years. I need to see the pain and sadness gone from my face. I procrastinated, somewhat from fear, but more from the awful squeamishness about surgery on my face and lower lids. (I had fears of my eyeball being cut!)
So, was there a doctor who could ease my fears and cause my feelings to dissipate? Someone in whose hands I could feel totally comfortable. It was then I remembered a young cousin who had spoken with adoring admiration to her mom and me about the time she worked in surgery with Dr. Linton Whitaker at the University of Pennsylvania. At that time, his task was to rebuild the entire face of someone who had a facial disorder. She went on and on, marveling at his skill.
My question was answered. Yes, I can do it if Dr. Whitaker is doing the work. Thank goodness he was still in Philadelphia, and of course, at the University of Pennsylvania.
As I studied photos in a scrapbook at the office, I realized that if my chin were moved forward a few millimeters, it would improve my face aesthetically. Dr. Whitaker suggested that a chin implant would give my face more definition. I heartily recommend looking at "before and after" photos at the office.
After my facelift, I talked with Dr. Whitaker about a "filler" for a small area below the lip at each side of my chin that appeared sunken. I preferred not to depend on repeated injections of a filler, but chose to have fat from my own body injected. I am so pleased the natural looking outcome.
I'm very grateful that we have so fine a man and so skilled a surgeon as Dr. Whitaker in our city.
